For the 6th consecutive year, IBM Canada has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers. This is a huge honour that further solidifies our dedication to creating an inclusive workplace environment accessible to everyone.
At a time where diversity, equity and inclusion are at the forefront of many discussions, IBM has not lost sight of its importance and the impact embracing diversity has on our employees, clients, and partners. IBM Canada strives to be consistent with its goal of strengthening our culture of inclusion and belonging for all employees, so that everyone can do their very best work.
IBM has a long history of adopting inclusive policies and practises. It continues to evaluate the programs and offerings and creates a nurturing atmosphere where both current and prospective employees can advance their careers while fostering personal growth.
IBM Canada demonstrates its commitment to employees, partners and the communities with which we live and serve by:
1. Fostering a culture of inclusion and allyship. Employees are encouraged to use their voices to support an underrepresented community. Allyship is about advancing equality and inclusion through dedicated, purposeful, and positive daily actions aimed at uplifting and benefiting individuals from diverse backgrounds. It’s constant education. It’s accountability.
2. Empowering our business resources groups (BRGs). We provide opportunities for employees to share their uniqueness and build networking opportunities through IBM Canada’s 8 BRGs. This year, IBM Canada expanded its BRGs with the launch of a new BRG for the Hispanic community to great success.
3. Continuing programs that drive career skills and development. IBM offers programs and maintains ongoing partnerships with community organizations that help individuals succeed in the changing world of work.
- The Tech Re-Entry program is available for technical professionals who took a break from the workforce and are looking to restart their careers. IBM SkillsBuild provides free digital learning, resources and support focused on technology and workplace skills for the future.
- IBM Service Corp equips employees with the skills and expertise they need to excel as leaders on a global stage, while providing opportunities to engage with diverse communities and contribute to economic development efforts.
- IBM also participates in the global Neurodiversity program to support recruitment and professional development opportunities for neurodivergent individuals and works with Lime Connect and Spectrum Works to expand neurodiverse recruitment.
We are proud of IBM’s commitment in embracing diversity and cultivating an inclusive work environment. Through its many programs and initiatives, IBM is going beyond the continuous journey of improvement and making a real impact in society. There’s still more to do in this space, but we’re on the right track.
