Rob heads the Centre of Excellence for Generative AI in Canada and leads a team of consultants that help clients navigate the AI landscape – from crafting a strategy, understanding how AI can be used and deploying AI responsibly.

The impact of artificial intelligence is being felt across industries and in workplaces worldwide. To learn more about this transformative technology, we asked Rob about the role of generative AI in businesses and what differentiates watsonx?

“Today, organizations that want to be leaders in their space are going to see generative AI as a new capability that can really transform their business. The watsonx platform that IBM has been building is a really core capability, especially in the foundation model space,” said Rob.

He explained, “So the easiest way to think about a foundation model is as an extra-large machine learning model that's trained on a huge amount of data. And as a result of being trained on that huge amount of data is able to make inferences on a wide variety of tasks, and that's what really makes this technology different from other types of technology.”
